A Gated Mess - 11/23
The story begins in late 2023. Don’t get discouraged; with all stories, there are ups and downs, exciting developments, and setbacks. You will be surprised by what God can do with a little faith and a lot of patience. We are currently going through the permitting process in preparation to build our house, but below is the story from the beginning in 2023. Oh, “A Gated Mess” is the name of our ranch.
November 2023
In October of 2023, my wife, Sue, showed me an Instagram post about getting 10 acres of land, starting a farm, and living off-grid. I thought, “That sounds cool.” So, I started following the Instagram account and visited the website actsdeereal.com. Wouldn’t you know it, there was also land becoming available in Central Florida. I went to the website and filled out the ranch calculator to get an estimate of the cost. I also signed up for a property visit at Panoplia (Armor of God) Ranch for November 11th.
As we drove the hour and 45 minutes to the place, we were thinking, “This seems like some ‘too good to be true’ stuff,” and we know how those situations normally end up. But Samantha, Sue, and I decided to take an adventure and check out this ACTS property with our own eyes.
We met TJ and others from ACTS. We asked questions and met other people who were also interested. It was pretty amazing to see young and old—families, children, siblings—all looking to get out of the rat race.ACTS People
Our tour through the property was pretty amazing, as you can see from the pictures. Ponds stocked with fish, trees, grasslands, and a decent gravel road that went through the entire property. Simply beautiful!
I left for home thinking, “Where do we go from here?”
